And Best Actress goes to . . . Kate Winslet for The Reader. Kudos!
She singles out Mom and Dad, I love it!

Oscar Awards 2009: Best Actress
Alright, it's a tough category. Let's see what happens. . . Ann Hathaway's breakin' my heart withthose tears in her eyes.
Oscar Awards 2009: Best Director
Best Director goes to Danny Boyle for, all together now, Slumdog Millionaire.
2009 Oscar Awards
Reese Witherspoon looks polished as always. She and Queen Latifah are both in royal blue and black, very popular colors this year apparently. She's one of the better presenters tonight.
Oscar Awards 2009
"I'll be Seeing You in All the Old Familiar Places" is the perfect song choice for Queen Latifah's tribute to stars that passed way this year. More love for the Queen and her effortless voice.
Oscar Awards 2009
This is the best awards broadcast I've ever watched! I love the performances of the Best Song nominees, the Indian dancers have definitely livened up the stage.
Oscar Awards 2009
A. R. Rahman wins Best Score for Slumdog Millionaire! That and Wall-E were my favorites! Slumdog is gaining steam, I'm predicting it will sail in to win Best Picture as well.

Hurrah for the Oscars tribute to musicals! Hugh Jackman is the consummate performer and flanked by Beyonce, Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical, Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfreid from Mamma Mia he could do no wrong. I was slightly disappointed because I could tell Beyonce was lip-sinking, but I loved the dancers and the layers of song upon song.
I thought I had just witnessed a clip from Moulin Rouge and then they credited Baz Lurhman with the design of the number! Of course!

I'm loving the Tina Fey and Steve Martin chemistry!
Best Adapted Screenplay goes to Simon Beaufoy for Slumdog Millionaire, well-deserved.

Tina Fey and Steve Martin . . . the perfect comedic duo! They need to make a movie together.
I hope Wall-E wins!
And Best Screenplay goes to . . . Dustin Lance Black for Milk.
My favorite loses again.

Penelope Cruz wins Best Supporting Actress. I wish Viola Davis of Taraji P. Henson had won it, but Penelope Cruz is always amazing and her emotion is truly touching! What a gorgeous acceptance speech to kick it off with. Felicitaciones, Penelope!
Oscar Awards 2009
I like the reappearance of past winners to deliver the nominees. It feels really personal. Too bad they didn't give them any dress pointers.

I'm already loving the awards show with a killer set and an orchestra. It looks unlike any Oscar broadcasts in recent memory.
Live on the Red Carpet
I adore Meryl Streep as an actress and tonight I can say I love her outfit, too. Her gown is lovely, minimalist and her hair looks perfect! I also love that she brought her daughter as her date.
Live on the Red Carpet
I love seeing lesser known actors like Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson at such an overblown event like the Oscars!
Live on the Red Carpet
Beyonce's gown and hair are a disappointment, but Kate Winslet looks stunning as usual.
Live on the Red Carpet
Penelope cruz just upstaged Natalie Portman as the closest Audrey Hepburn look-alike thus far. Her hair cut is vintage Hepburn as is her classy white dress.
Live on the Red Carpet
Is Philip Seymour Hoffman planning on stealing an Oscar? All he'd have to do is cut out eye, nose and mouth holes into his 'cap' to create the perfect costume.
Live on the Red Carpet
O Sophia Loren, who allowed to walk out the house looking the way you do? You have seen better days my friend.
Live on the Red Carpet
Natalie Portman is definitely channeling Audrey Hepburn tonight! Her hair is adorable; short and curly. I love the bright pink with her dark hair.

I'm reading a great new novel; Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiana. She's one of my favorite writers and I'm devouring this latest book. Look for a review coming! Also, tune in Sunday night at 8 p.m. when I'll be live blogging the Oscars! Fingers crossed that Slumdog Millionaire takes home the award for Best Picture.
