Welcome home Darcy! Last Monday I rescued my first dog. Being a Jane Austen addict I quickly decided to name him Darcy, after the (in)famous Mr. Darcy of Pride and Prejudice. His shaggy mane and big, dark eyes swept me away as Lizzy Bennet was swept away by Mr. Darcy. My Darcy is between one and two years old and is a healthy little boy. He only weighs 10 pounds! He is definitely a mutt; the vet guessed that he is a mix of Affen Pinscher, Yorkshire terrier and Pekinese breeds. I have decided to tell people that he is a Lithuanian trunk dog and see how they respond.
Darcy is adjusting very well to his new home. I can't believe how much I love him already! When the worker at the rescue farm put him into my arms I felt like I was receiving a baby. I immediately bonded with him, and feel pretty strongly I would throw myself under a bus to protect the little guy. As far as I can tell the feeling is mutual. He follows me wherever I go (maybe I should have named him Shadow!) and sits protectively next to my chair, guarding me with all his might!
I can't wait to see how he will grow and change over the years. He is a permanent member of the family!
